Greetings Blog Family,

Today I wanted to share a great quote with you that is particularly close to me. I have been reading and studying Burton Kaplan for years and this is one of his most profound quotes. We often times get caught, and wrapped up in what other people think and feel about us cause we would like for them to realize our importance, but this is not the way to live a powerful existence.

“You, me, everybody – we’re all subject to a basic fact of human nature; we all need to feel important and to feel that other people recognize our importance.  This means that when we deal with others, the temptation is always present to impress them.  RESIST IT. – Burton Kaplan

I have three reasons for you that you should resist the temptation of impressing other people. These are simple life truths that we should all take to heart, employ in our lives, and thrive as a result.

1. Not Being Your Genuine Self – Stop short changing the world by being like the multitude of people in this world that is unoriginal. You were created to be your magnificent self and by not doing so, you are actually cheating the world of your existence. How will anyone respect and appreciate you if you are never being yourself.
2. They Can See Right Through You – Give other people some credit. If you are not being your original self, it is going to come across that you are being fake. And the people that you are trying so desperately to impress is more than likely sharp enough to notice a fake when they see it. You will actually lose respect and admiration in the process.
3. You Can Still Earn Respect – Being yourself has gotten you this far in your life and remaining that way is going to take you where you desire to be. If you remain steadfast to who you are, continuously add value to the lives of people around you, and live a life of service, then you will not only impress those that you want to, but also others that you might not even realize is watching you.

At the end of the day, be you; cause that is the only one you have and it is the blessing that world needs.

That’s right! I am back into video blogging and planning on doing it big. It is my honor to introduce to you the first of my recent brain child’s, Balance. Balance, get some in your life, is a show I will be doing that focuses on motivation, inspiration, quotes, and personal development for entrepreneurs and bloggers. We all need and must have balance.

These economic times are raining down around us and many people are scared because they cannot predict the future. I feel and understand where they are coming from, but entrepreneurs must stay in the pocket, poised and ready to strike. Greetings Blog Family,

My problem isn’t with planning, action, or skill. I think it is more of an arrogant outlook that I will eventually be successful. Not sure why I think this way, but it is just true. I think if I am involved in something, then I am going to come out on top. That confidence has been with me my whole life. My wife says it is because my parents spoiled me rotten and it gave me a complex. Maybe, but I know that I am going to come out on top. Let’s just say that I am confident.

Here is the thing. I am so confident that i don’t have any real urgency or motivation to hurry the process along. For instance, I am a blogger/internet marketer/guy trying to make a living on line/you fill it in. I am going to succeed. I just know it. It is just inevitable. It is going to happen.

I am not saying that I am entitled, should be granted this or anything. I will do what ever is necessary to succeed. I will read, learn skills, practice, study, watch, analyze, plan, and stay up all hours of the night putting in my time to succeed. Despite the work requirement, I will get it done. I have that confidence in myself that I can do it.

Personally, I wish everyone had this confidence, but this outlook leads me to at times just coast and go with the flow. Taking the journey of life and just flowing along. There is no urgency to succeed right away.

I guess this is called enjoying the journey to success. They say afterall that it is the journey that is the best part. This line of thinking is probably true, but no truer than the fact that death cannot be bargined with and it tends to come unexpectedly.

Not to get to morbit on you, but this is just the truth and that one reminder that puts my arrogance in it’s place. Our time to actualize our dreams is not infinate.  In fact, we don’t know how much time we have. Today is the only day that we are promised. Let’s be sure to get it done.

Greetings Blog Family,

It is the holiday season and I am away from my office on vacation. Around this time of year, every year, I visit my parents home in Michigan and get an opportunity to hang out with them and many of my friends that I grew up with. This is truly a great time for me as I love to dwell amongst great friends and family. There is nothing like it.

To bring in the quote of the week by Jim Rohn, happiness starts with you. It starts from inside of you and stuff you are built of. This time of year allows me to not only reflect on my substance, but meet and mingle with the rocks of my existence…, my parents. These are two of the greatest people in the world as far as I am concerned and I don’t have enough time to get very specific on all of the wonderful things that they have done for me.

* The gave me my determination to continue in pursuit of my goals until I accomplish them. We all know that it is a necessary ability to be able to go over, through, around, or under those obstacles that are sure to face you during  your journey.

* They gave me my passionto chase my dreams unencumbered. The fears and thoughts of what others may think about you have paralyzed many into non-action, but these thoughts are not wasted on me. I have the fire, belief, and ability to continue on the path that I have chosen as the best for me at this particular time.

*The gave my ingenuity to be able to adjust and alter my course while in pursuit of what I deem to be happiness. To be a success in any field you have to be flexible. At times you are going to have to learn new skills, understand different information, or even create original information to be the success you desire.

* They gave me my awareness to smell a rat when I do and to back away from people and situations that may be harmful. Sometimes you have to just trust your gut and even your eyes when they are seeing something you don’t believe is happening. In my life, I have had good friends turn on me, but it was this ability to smell a rat that allowed me to minimize the damage. Trust your instinct at times.

* They gave my vision of marriageafter more than 50 years together, I think I have had a small picture of what it takes to make a marriage work. Family is very important to me as it is a real stabilizer in one’s life. My life is no different and it is very important to me. I understand how to be an husband, father, friend, and mainly that you just have to work on getting better everyday.

* They gave me my appreciation for friendshipfor it is truly essential to the soul. There are some things that our souls just need in this life. One of those things is true friendship. If you have not had the opportunity to experience such friendship, maybe you don’t understand what I am talking about. But if you have experienced true friendship, then you know what I mean. A friend is very special and important on any and every journey you will take.

* They gave me my sense of humanity that allows me to see the world through the eyes of those less fortunate than me and give what I can to make the community a little better. The think about this world is that we are all in this together. There is no way around it. We have to help one another.

* They gave me my happiness for without the entire lot of these things, I could not have the love, family, friends, and opportunities that I do. It is wonderful to be able to create the world and life that you desire based on the substance that is inside of you. Remember, there are some very important people in your life that helped you to be come the person you are, honor and appreciate that.

Therefore, I agree with Mr. Rohn that happiness is the art of getting joy from your substance. Thank you to these remarkable people I am able to get much joy from my substance.

Eyes have the tendency to restrain your abilities. Only trusting what you see has the habit of holding back much of your creative energy. When you enter a project with the belief that the outcome is doomed to failure because it has never been done or it is difficult at best, you severely limit your chances for success.

It is my opinion this is because you cut your enthusiasm, the eternal elixir of life, from the process. Enthusiasm is like electricity and can push you over and through obstacles that you are sure to face. These obstacles may be knowledge based, which you will gladly put in the study hours necessary to be proficient in an area of you are enthused about the outcome…or the possibility. 

Enthusiasm doesn’t flow into a project or a venture if your beliefs are tempered. Tempered by assumptions of the possible or what is in the current reach of your abilities.

You have to see beyond these circumstances and into the possible. Granted that your reality may not seem favorable. Granted your situation may not be idea or perfect. Granted you don’t know any coding languages and have never worked with WordPress. You cannot continue to be a hostage of your circumstances.

The quote talks of dreaming of things that never were and asking why not, can you answer that question? Why can’t you do and accomplish what you set out to do? Why not?

As long as you know, you have to establish an effective position and work to ensure its success. That work could be learning a subject, writing pages of material, working long hours, it could require a monetary investment, it could be something totally unforeseen.

Yet with enthusiasm about something, you will willingly take on all challenges….to achieve your dreams.

Greetings Blog Family,

You must read. Reading can build your culture, refinement, and understanding. These things are essential to being a great person, blogger, or business owner. Yes, if you don’t read, then you may as well not be able to. This is a true statement.

We are not talking about reading street signs, applications, or the alphanumerics of ESPN or WE network. We are talking about the reading of a research project, case study, a novel. We are talking about the reading that stretches you. That makes you want to reach for more. The reading that makes you want to reach for more. The reading that makes you a better person. Reading that provides fulfillment and makes you a better person.

Doesn’t that sound exciting?

Everyone has their own reasons, but the  point is if you are not reading in this matter, you may as well not be able to. It is like having a treadmill in your home and not using it. Having a Ballys membership  and not going…just paying the monthly fee for nothing. (I will admit it. I am guilty of this at times.)

Reading Fills, Feeds, and Frees 

1) Fills Your Gaps - Your understanding is based on your experiences and people you have in your life. This ranges from parents, friends, superiors at work to teachers and all the experiences between. Reading plugs those gaps and gives you the opportunity to further mold yourself. You even have a choice in what you read providing input into your growth and development.

If your desire is to be a full time blogger and don’t understand community building or traffic generation, you don’t have to remain ignorant. You can pick up a book or even an ebook and learn some basics. But the bottom line is reading. Read to learn something that will make you better 

2) Feeds Your Urge - Inside of every human is an innate desire to learn, grow, and progress. When you get to your quiet space and are honest with yourself, you will admit that you have this urge. Everyone does. It is great in my opinion. It has lead to all of the worlds great innovations. That urge to do, be, and know more. It is inside of all of us.

Reading feeds this urge because it makes you a better person. I am not a big fiction reader myself, but I can appreciate what it does to your imagination, sense of wonderment, and the feelings that it can evoke. It can be really outstanding. My wife is a fiction reader and she enjoys it very much.

My preference is nonfiction. I love to set a goal and acquire the necessary knowledge I will need to be successful in that endeavor. This can be a course, lesson, biography, a reference manual, magazine, website, case study, anything. I want to read for learning and growth. Reading feeds my urge.

3) Frees Your Potential - We all have an incredible potential to be successful in our chosen fields. But the truth is the one that knows and implements the best, will be the most successful. This is just the truth. Reading within your field will make  you better and more likely to advance and succeed. That is undeniable . Free your potential!

Aim for success not perfection. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism. Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human can, paradoxically, make you a far happier and more productive person...Dr. David Burns

Greetings Blog Family,

Perfectionism is something I have wanted to talk about for a long time here. I love how Mr. Burns references fear as the root cause of perfectionism because it is so true.

Most perfectionist won’t admit the root cause as fear, but the truth is obvious. The wild thing is most perfectionist are people that most would consider bold, talented, and considerably above average. However, these things don’t necessarily mean they are not ravaged by fear on a daily basis. 

It is easier to not do or produce something with the reasoning that you want to put your best foot forward. I call this “Procrastination by Perfection” and it is comforting because you can always say that you have the best “widget” on the market…you just haven’t released it yet.

Essentially, you are sparring the ego a potential bruising because of the fear of criticism that may rain down on your creation if you actually allowed the viewing public a chance to see it.

This is why you must aim for success and not perfection. You don’t want to hold yourself back trying to make something perfect that in your eyes will never be perfect. There are always better ways to do something. It is better to aim for success, get that “widget” out into the marketplace, then work to make constant improvements until you can get it to a level of satisfaction from yourself and the marketplace, then allow your creative juices to move on to the next project.

Don’t allow public perception the opportunity to hold you back. You are bright, talented, and willing to put in the work and hours it takes to be successful….go for it!

“Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility, in the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have is the ability to take on responsibility.” – Michael Korda

Greetings Blog Family,

Responsibility is the key to your future. Often we don’t notice this underlying trait of the most successful people you admire or know.

Be careful here. You must realize success is a relative term. We automatically attribute wealth and riches to success, but that is an incomplete assessment. Yes, riches and fortune have their place in success, but it is a lot deeper than that.

Let’s examine three examples of success. But notice how the underlying trait, better a foundation of responsibility.

1) The Successful Entrepreneur - The self made business owner that created automated business systems that creates a residual stream of income, a substantial income of $30,000/month. I purposely left this vague for your mind to wonder. This person could be a blogger, a consultant, a delivery service that has outsourced the work for each week.

The point is at the end of the day, it was the decision of the entrepreneur to say, I am going to get this done. I will make sure of it. It is my responsibility.

2) The Organic Life – The person that has severed their dependence on others to feed, cloth, and take care of themselves. There is a You Tube video of a guy who said that once he learned what is being put into the foods we eat, he began to grow his own food because he couldn’t stand the thought of poisoning his children with that food.

Now maybe this doesn’t seem necessary or even feasible to you or I, but concede the fact that it was his goal and he achieved it. Watch the video and you will see he lives in California, he and his family grow food on every square inch of their property, all organic foods. It is really amazing!

My point is that it is his definition of success. He took on great measures to realize this success. Again the foundation is responsibility. Think of what is required day to day to survive in that lifestyle. Responsibility is at work once again.

3) The Family – To maintain a successful family means different things to different people. But I don’t believe I will get too many objections to responsibility being at the root of all successful families. You have a responsibility to and of your spouse and children.

Responsibility Runs
Responsibility runs through all levels of success. The sooner you accept it, the sooner you can move forward. you have all that you need to succeed. The question is will you take responsibility?

Blog Family,

I like the truth. To me, this quote by Thomas Edison cuts through us like a razor sharp, samurai sword. How else would you put it? The cold, hard fact is most people do not want to put in the long hours, tireless nights, mundane achievements day in and day out to be make the most out of the opportunities we have.

Even the Internet Marketing business is Hard Work.

Opportunities take work. The Internet Marketing boom opportunity draws a lot of people that don’t really understand what they are getting into and think it is a quick path to cash. Who can blame them? They are pressured throughout the Blogosphere with offers of big riches, quickly.

There may be some truth in those offers, but it is going to take some work to build it. Once most people catch wind that they actually have to do something, they lose interest and the business/blog dies.

But, this is a special group.

But not this group, not my Blog Family! I know you are serious about your blogging business and future. You understand this OPPORTUNITY is going to take some effort. It is going to take some innovation. It is going to take some learning. This group isn’t afraid of a little hard work.

Let’s get busy!
