Quote of the Week: Opportunity Is Missed

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”
- Thomas A. Edison
Blog Family,
I like the truth. To me, this quote by Thomas Edison cuts through us like a razor sharp, samurai sword. How else would you put it? The cold, hard fact is most people do not want to put in the long hours, tireless nights, mundane achievements day in and day out to be make the most out of the opportunities we have.
Even the Internet Marketing business is Hard Work.
Opportunities take work. The Internet Marketing boom opportunity draws a lot of people that don’t really understand what they are getting into and think it is a quick path to cash. Who can blame them? They are pressured throughout the Blogosphere with offers of big riches, quickly.
There may be some truth in those offers, but it is going to take some work to build it. Once most people catch wind that they actually have to do something, they lose interest and the business/blog dies.
But, this is a special group.
But not this group, not my Blog Family! I know you are serious about your blogging business and future. You understand this OPPORTUNITY is going to take some effort. It is going to take some innovation. It is going to take some learning. This group isn’t afraid of a little hard work.
Let’s get busy!

I love that quote! And it’s totally true.
The only concern that I have with my IM aspirations is that even with hard work, success is not guaranteed. Though, much of the risk can be negated with proper research (which is my weak spot).

The Vixen strikes!
You are so right about success not being guaranteed, far from it. Life/business/IM all have uncertainty in common. Be honest, that’s what makes it all so much fun, right?

Razor sharp like a 15th century Shaolin Kitana Sword to be exact!
That quote is so clever, and what’s even more genius about quotes like that is they are usually created within a moment of sporadic conversation and verbal rambling.
This is when the most truth comes out!

@ Elijah – Alright, I now have me another weapon to add to my options. The ninjas always come through for me!
I like to think it is moments like these that we are allowed to tap into a force greater than ourselves and out comes profound thought and logic.
You know, like when you go to create a blog post…or at least that is the idea, right?

Ah see, you all were voting for me to stay on vacation but now it’s all about hard work and not missing opportunity! So confused- what to do, what to do…
I agree but I will say this- opportunity does not always come only from hard work. Strategy and focus can certainly make the journey easier. Work smarter, not harder right?

@ Brilliant Jeni – Your are so right, but no one said that hard work cannot be trimmed down to a manageable size? You are able to do it and take a life long vacation. LOL!
Thanks for kudos on the new header! It is more inline with my Internet Business Plan I have been working on. It is a work in progress, but now I have an identity/brand, direction, and I am excited to move forward.

I love your quotes, a site feature you shouldn’t ever lose.
Here is one of my favorites. It isn’t so much inspirational but I just love it.
“Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is” Sir Francis Bacon.
Also noted as saying “knowledge is power”

@ Adam – Glad you like the quotes. Naw, I don’t think I will be stopping this feature any time soon. I may add video commentary to it at the suggestion of Suite J. Just didn’t have time yesterday to make that happen, but maybe in the future.
I like your quote as well! May have to add that to my quote library. Thanks!
