Monday’s Motivational Moment: Urgency

Greetings Blog Family,
It is another terrific Monday here at FreddieTaylor.com and I am fired up as usual. Hopefully, you are as well.
Today, I wanted to talk to you about something that has been weighing on my mind for some time now….URGENCY! Urgency is the key to success in your life and business.
Time to Face the Facts
At some point in our existence, we have to face the facts. The facts are you, I, and we only have a finite time on this earth and in this universe….and the clock is ticking. There are no do overs and no overtime. You cannot bring back any yesterdays or last weeks. Everything that you desire to do and accomplish must be done one day at a time inside of the allotted time frame we all have.
In the wake of so many tradegies and earily deaths in our society, you would think that most people have a real sense of urgency about completing their goals and objectives. The truth is most people don’t have a sense of urgency. Most people act as if they have an eternity in front of them in order to complete their life’s mission.
Youth is a Wonderful Thing
Well, I know I cannot fault them, but I know most of this thinking comes from youth. Believe it or not, once upon a time, I was a young man and felt immortality pumping through my veins. I felt like I was going to live forever. Then I turned thirty a few years ago and realize that was blood in my veins like everyone else. Worst or better, depending on how you look at it, I realized that I wasn’t going to be here forever like everyone else.
Shake Yourself Free
That thought triggered the urgency I wanted to talk to you about today. WAKE UP! Shake yourself free and start working to move towards your goals and dreams. Hate to be the one to break the news to you, but you don’t have forever to complete them. In fact, you are not even promised tomorrow. You don’t want to be one of these people later in life wishing they would have given more effort and energy towards completing your life’s mission, building your business, or having a better family. Get a sense of urgency and do it now!
You will like yourself much better when working towards your goals and dreams of building a successful business or family or health, whatever the case may be.
Inside this video
Inside this video I want to share a football analogy with you about urgency. I can still hear my college coachs yelling and screaming for us to go get the ball at its highest point.
What does that have to do with urgency?
Watch the video to find out. As usual, I would love to hear your thoughts, opinions, and urgency for your goals and dreams. Let’s get into it.

Yessssssssssssss… me neither. Get some Freddie Taylor in your life and don’t look back!
Brilliant analogy. So true that most people in todays world do not have a sense of urgency and let that be their undoing. I don’t want to be ‘most people’, so get up, get out and get some, right?!
There are a million ways to lose a work day, but not even a single way to get one back!

That is so true, Joe! There are nights that I don’t go to sleep because I feel this sense of urgency constantly, but I have to remember that it must be focused and controlled. It is hard to control once you awake that beast inside you that MUST succeed. Sometimes the beast wins and I don’t sleep for 48 hour periods. When you are rolling, you just have to continue to make it happen!
@ Nota Bene
Allow me to give you some truth. You are not ‘most people’, you are special. And if you don’t fulfill the potential inside of you, your family, business, and the people around you will be CHEATED!!!!
I know you don’t want to cheat the people you love. Go ahead and release all that you have into attaining your goals and dreams, so get up, get out and get some!!!! Yeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!!
Oooohhhhh, I really like that, “There are a million ways to lose a work day, but not even a single way to get one back.”
Ummm, don’t be mad at me if you hear that in a video somewhere down the line. LOL!

Hi Freddie – great blog and great video! I love the ball story! Even though I was never really able to follow football – it’s a great example. I hope to see more videos like this! Good thing to wake up to, also (I just woke up.)
You are right, some people just lack the persistance and the urgency to keep going. Or they don’t realize that they have it.

@ Anna
Glad you liked it and getting some motivation since you just woke up! Football is a great game, I love it and really does apply to life in so many ways. I know, I sound like a brainwashed athlete, right? LOL!
I liked your article on persistence, it was on point!
Thanks for visiting my neck of the blogosphere, hope you can make your way back to these parts!

I have my spurts and what not for urgency but my word that surrounds me is” procrastination. LOL! If I can get rid of that then I’d be well on my way to quitting my day job!

Yeah urgency is important, but it has to be focused concentration. I may get into a little bit more about this urgency…and procrastination. They are related in the death of our successes in life and business.
As for the header, hey dude, get off of me. LOL! It is coming, but it is taking a back seat to getting the direction of my blog in place. Notice from my goals that I am still working on my Internet Business Plan and the direction of this site.
This week, I think I found it and will get getting into a little bit on Sunday, so drop by and be sure to give me some feedback.
Glad to see you are enjoying the material and hanging out on the site.

Wow!
I don’t know what to tell you Freddie. This is the best post I have read in a really long time. If you haven’t noticed I love writing about productivity and getting things done. I emphasize a lot about “lazy” people, but never took time to focus on the “time” aspect.
I have a confession to make . . . I am afraid of time. Seriously, it scares the heck out of me. Like an old man frets with every passing birthday, I do the same with every passing day.
I fear time. This post is so accurate as to how people underestimate and pay no mind to time. People feel, and so did I once, that they have an eternity ahead of them. But that’s far from the truth. I’m so glad someone out there (you) in the blogosphere has realized this as well.
Nobody worries about insurance until after the car accident. No one worries about time till they see the old (wo)man in the mirror.
Awesome post Freddie! And I have subscribed to this blog!

Glad you enjoyed the post and hope you will stick around for more of what I got planned.
Yeah man, time is critical. We only have so much of it and the wild part about is that you don’t know when you are going to be out of it. I don’t blame you for being fearful of time, but don’t let that stop you from moving forward.
You are getting it done on your blog and I know you are getting it done behind the doors, but want to encourage you to continue to push yourself and take each day seriously for it is the only one we have.
Thanks for subscribing and looking forward to hearing your insight and seeing you participating in the conversations.

Urgency can be important, but rushing or working at bad times can lead to very low productivity, which can be a waste of time..

@ Danny –
This is so true! You cannot afford to be busy for the sake of being busy. This is why I talked about getting your plan together and working your plan!
That is what it is all about. Focus direction will lead you to the pot of goal at the end of your dreams. Focus direction that is backed by a plan you are working…and working it URGENTLY!!!!
Good observation and input my friend!

Wow, great post. I feel inspired to work harder. I have given myself until I am 30 to be independently wealthy by doing what I love. That is the goal I have given myself. I am 25 so the urgency is there.

Alright Adam, you are right…the clock is ticking. It wasn’t long ago that I was 25 with big dreams. Didn’t have the urgency and know I am 32, but back on track and I will make it happen.
You can too!!!!!
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
