Greetings Blog Family,
What’s crackin this morning? Let’s get down to business. We have work to do and goals to accomplish this week. Let’s be sure to get out the gate running.
You’ve Been Studying
You have been reading, learning, and planning your future blogging empire for months now. You are buying the materials, courses, memberships and more getting ready to take the blogosphere by storm. And this is a great thing. You should be involved in your future to the point that you are planning it out.
Remember, here at FreddieTaylor.com, we believe Thought is Possibility, First in the Mind, then in Reality. So it is obvious that I am a proponent of planning and forethought.
However, there is a huge problem with excessive planning.
The Problem
“There will always be a better way.” – Common Sense (Not the rapper!)
There is always a better mouse trap, especially if you are sitting around thinking about it all day and night. You can find flaws in the best of business models from Google to Amazon to Suijej.com. Okay, maybe not Suitej.com, but any other mere mortal’s website. (LOL! I like to razz Suite J with the Ole Big Head Avatar sometimes. He things I am super straight laced.)
Procrastination by Perfection
The point is there will always be imperfections in a business or blog. It is not what you can notice from pre-launch stage, but the practical alterations made in the post launch phase or actual business.
There comes a point when you have to let go and shoot the ball. Let the business out of the box.
Go Before You’re Ready
All the lights will never be green, your ducks will never be in a row, but at some point you have to go for it. Success is not a destination, but a journey. You cannot partake of this journey from the business sidelines. Let’s go, Blog Family!
Surprise Contest – Find the error in video and win 125×125 banner ad.
- The first person to comment correctly about the error in the video, wins!
- The error I am thinking about, may be other areas, but only one is the winning error.
- You must be a subscriber to enter be considered for victory.
- Winner gets a 1 month 125×125 banner ad on FreddieTaylor.com
- How’s that for my first contest? Basically, I notice this error while finalizing this post and didn’t want to go back and make the change. So, I decided to reward the first person that finds it & hopefully no one else will mention it. Agreed?
*************************************************
Do you go to early or wait to long to launch a business or change in your business?
Let’s hear it in the comment section.

Delay, d-lay, d-d-deeeelay?! Or perhaps that was an intentional attempt at rapping?
Regards the post iteslf Freddie, you nailed it once again. My site was launched early, but to tell the truth I could have spent plenty more weeks trying to make things perfect. The thing about Blogs is that they are always evolving. One thing you thought was awesome yesterday may very well not be tomorrow, therefore you can speand forvever going round in circles.
I was just talking to ole sammich man from the hood last night and advising him to ‘Get those sites up’.
Great post!
Nota Bene Consultings last blog post..Finding A Profitable Niche
I’ve always tried to put my best foot forward first, not releasing stuff until it’s at a certain standard – after all, first impressions count, and once the content gets buried no-one will see the changes – I see what you’re saying though
Simon from Otooos last blog post..It’s Not What You Know, It’s Who You Know
Freddie,
Good post, I enjoyed it.
To me it is less than going before you are ready, and accepting the amount of risk in your project and addressing situations as they arise. If you have accepted the risks you can launch your product and try to minimize those risks along the way.
As for the error, I would have to say the skipping in the middle of the video. Look like you had some trouble cutting it.
Adam
Adam – Creadiv.coms last blog post..I Choose Darren Rowse.
@ Nota – You can go around and around in circles forever, ain’t that the truth! Man, at some point you just have to pull the trigger and get it out there. And yes, the Sammich Man needs to get them going. They are just about ready, but he must debating over some small changes or something. Let the Mayo go, Joe! LOL!
@ Simon – I totally feel what you are saying here. That is why I stated who I was talking to in the video, people like yourself. You have meticulously prepared a site and now you know you could release it, but hesitate because there might be some small error. It is good to be cautions, after all your site does reflect you, but get it going is all I am saying. Thanks for commenting and come back soon!
@ Adam – I feel you on accepting the risk. That is on point and that is what business is about at the end of the day. Minimizing those risk and exploiting your opportunities is the focus…AFTER LAUNCH!!! LOL!
As for the error, you are right, but that isn’t the one I was referring to. There is another error that I thought was obvious, but maybe it isn’t. I didn’t think it would get past 3 comments. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. I will have to give you an honorable mention prize for the effort. I appreciated it!
Hey Freddie, first time on your blog and enjoyed it. I didn’t know you were into video blogging. I’m thinking about getting into video blogging someday as I really enjoy what I’m watching on a couple of blogs and that include your blog!
Ben – frogstr.coms last blog post..Are you a web prostitute?
Ben – Thanks for taking the time to stop by and check me out. Yeah, I like video blogging as it gives your audience another method of getting to know you. Plus, it is fun! Give it a shot.
Thanks again for stopping by and don’t be a stranger!
While you should always try to create a blog/site/product of high quality and error free, there is such a thing as being a perfectionist. Too many people spend too much time trying to make everything perfect (finding just the right WP theme, tweaking their settings, dotting every i and crossing every t) that they never get out of the starting blocks. Sometimes you just have to give it a go and polish things off on the fly.
Mike Collinss last blog post..Using Htaccess To Mask Affiliate Links
@ Mike – Thanks for the comment. You are so right and I appreciate the analogy to the starting blocks. It doesn’t matter how fast you are if you never start running.
Hope to see you around these parts more.
The necessary altercations? Instead of alterations? (My hubby does this a lot, so I pick up on it).
You’re completely right, though. I never can see what’s wrong with a site/project until I think it’s finished and post it out to the world. And then I see glaring errors everywhere!
WordVixens last blog post..Funny, But True
@ Word Vixen – You caught another error. LOL! The one I am talking about is even more OBVIOUS! Believe it or not. I guess I should give hints to which error. This is turning out to be very interesting.
You are right, also. When you launch something to the world, you find all types of things that you should do differently. Not really sure what it is, but it never fails.
Good stuff, thanks for sharing!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah boyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, I love it man! I always miss these on monday, but always come back and get my re-up! I promise when you do them claps at the end of the video I be ready to take on a whole army!
It’s true man, we can plan until it’s picture perfect, but that won’t make no money!
One of the marketers I study says “ready, shoot, aim” same thing you’re saying. Get it out there, get it live…THEN tweak it to perfection based on the current results.
Yess…….
@ Joe – LOL at them claps! Yeah, I be getting fired up also.
I like that “ready, shoot, aim”. That is classic, but it speaks to the essence of what I am talking about. Tweak to perfection based on current results.
That is the stuff of champions!
Ok, so I’m a little late (pulling out the “I was on a plane for 2 weeks” card) but seriously GREAT VIDEO and post! This is huge for me since I’m the “endless vacation girl,” and find it difficult to have any kind of posting schedule. Most of the time, I’ll put it off and then regret it because I won’t have the same, fresh take after initially meeting someone at a blogging convention, etc. In the end, you said it- JUST BLOG.
@ Jeni AKA Pineapple – Alright endless vacation girl is back and ready to work. LOL!
Don’t put it off any more. Today is the day we correct our mistakes and don’t make them again!
Here’s to Pineapple!
What’s up Freddie????
Yo, I missed out on this when it was posted because Monday was wifey’s birthday and I took that day, and a lot of the weekned off to whoop it up!
Another killer video, of course. Dude, I need this motivational video every day man.
As for this week’s error, I noticed the “altercations” as well, and thought that might be it…but what YOU’RE referring to, I believe, is the misspelling of “YOU’RE” in “GO BEFORE YOUR READY”?
Cheers Blog Family!

SuiteJs last blog post..Website Flipping: Dig Deeper Into SitePoint To Improve Your Sales
@ Suite J – Ding, ding, ding!!!! Sirens are going off, we have a winner!!!!! That was the one that I noticed “You’re” should have replaced “Your” in the video.
Good work, J, I will be contacting you to get your banner for your free ad.
Thank you to everyone else that participated. Yes, you found an error, but there were to many to reward everyone..LOL! I will have more contest one day and maybe even some that I announce before hand.
Just getting in a little bit deeper to your blog, man. Love the sentiment here — totally agree with it as a life statement, too. Jump in and get dirty. Learn on the fly and make what you do about the process. And that’s coming from a born-perfectionist, too.

If I hadn’t started my business when I did, whew — who knows what! All that’s just to say — just do it. There will ALWAYS be reasons not to do something. It’s so easy to talk yourself out of something, if you look for the negative. If you want it, just go make it happen.
