If you don’t have a plan, then you are really trying to sabotage your goals and dreams. It doesn’t matter if what you are pursuing is personal, public, even financial, you need to have a plan. Everyone needs a blueprint to follow and they are venturing to a place where they have never been before. It will help set you up for the success you desire.

I am not going to try to convince you that you need to have a plan today. That is something that should go without being contested. However, I am going to tell you you need to follow that plan, even when things don’t seem to be going right. You must follow that plan, when you don’t feel like putting in the work. You must follow that plan, even when you are down.

Follow Your Plan

There may come a time when you recognize the isn’t working and it is time for a change. That is fine. Make the change. Just because you change your plan doesn’t mean it failed. In fact, you should look at things a bit differently. If you change your plan, you are recognizing one way that won’t work towards getting you closer to your goals and dreams. This is necessary to remove the obstacle out of your way. Therefore, you should be proud when you find something that isn’t working because it gives you the opportunity to replace it with something, a plan, that does and will work. If it falls short again, then change it again, but don’t give up. Don’t quit. Keep fighting and following your plan.

On those days when you are a bit hazy, a bit depressed, a bit down, you have to still follow your plan. Let’s say you have a plan or goal to pay of your credit card debt. You are trying to cut money from your budget at every corner, but this one particular day you are a bit down. You are say and not feeling like yourself.

Don’t allow this temporary feeling to hold you back from achieving that goal of eliminating your credit car debt. Don’t allow this depression to force you into buying that extra cup of coffee at lunch, splurging on a cab ride when you said you would walk, hit the local bars after work for a drink, or dash to the shopping mall for some retail therapy. 

You cannot allow these temporary droughts in your life to get you off your path of success.

You must remember the that the flower that follows the sun does so even on cloudy days.

This is your cloudy day. This is the day that is holding you back. Doubt and anxiety is creeping into your mindset, but you cannot allow this to get you off track. You must follow your plan. You must follow the sun, so you can blossom into the full beauty and potential you know you are capable.

Greetings Good People,

The time has come that we stop playing these games as if we don’t know what it is going to take to raise our communities, society, and world to the next level. It is going to take good people like yourself building yourselves up into greatness, then doing the unthinkable, and reaching back to help others do the same.

I know this is a foreign concept in this world of instant gratification, greed, and personal fulfillment, but if the good people of the world are not going to be the change we need, then who will do it? The Wall Street Bankers? I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that moment.

Therefore, we must take things into our own hands and make them happen for ourselves. The time has come for us to step up and make the difference. We have been passive long enough and this has gotten us nowhere, but to the great sea of disappointment.Now is our time.

Greetings Good People,

The time has come that we all stop playing with our life and existence. We are part of the most wonderful and powerful energy ever and we need to start acting like it. Wouldn’t you agree?

It is amazing that most people believe their is a God or an higher being or Universal oneness in the world, but don’t include that magic, beauty, and power when they identify themselves. It doesn’t make much sense and it is time that we snap out of this way of thinking and being.

Therefore, I have taken it upon myself to try and shake, motivate, and get you to see the dormant power that lies inside of you. Let’s take this adventure together and see if we can come into understanding of this power and enact it in our lives.

Greetings Good People,

It’s been a while since I have last talked with you, but I am back and it feels good. The hiatus was because I have a lot going on in my life, but now I realize that I just have to make time because this is what I really want to do. That is just the fact, so I am embracing it.

Nevertheless, I will not be making any excuses and as a matter of fact that is what I want to talk to you about today; EXCUSES!

I am a tremendous sports fan, particularly football. And I don’t know if you have heard, but the Cowboy’s wide receiver Roy Williams made news complaining and crying that he is suppose to be the number one receiver in Dallas, but all the passes from Tony Romo to him are not thrown correctly. In fact, he expounded by saying the passes to the number two reciever, Miles Austin, were thrown perfectly.

Wow, this is unbelievable that he would make excuses like this instead of just catching the damn ball. But this excuse filled society is driving me crazy and we need to rid ourselves of it once and for all.

I know this is not a behavior that you share, but I just want to make sure by jumping in here and making a video about it to ensure that you don’t take to this kind of behavior.

Greetings Good People,

Life has a nasty tendency to through us constant curve balls. And this can wear even the strongest of us down from time to time. We just have to endure and fight to continue on our path to progress.

Now, I don’t know what you want out of life, but I do know that if you are going to quit everytime it gets a little difficult, then we are going to have some serious problems. That is just the facts.

Today I wanted to share a great quote with you that is particularly close to me. I have been reading and studying Burton Kaplan for years and this is one of his most profound quotes. We often times get caught, and wrapped up in what other people think and feel about us cause we would like for them to realize our importance, but this is not the way to live a powerful existence.

“You, me, everybody – we’re all subject to a basic fact of human nature; we all need to feel important and to feel that other people recognize our importance.  This means that when we deal with others, the temptation is always present to impress them.  RESIST IT. – Burton Kaplan

I have three reasons for you that you should resist the temptation of impressing other people. These are simple life truths that we should all take to heart, employ in our lives, and thrive as a result.

1. Not Being Your Genuine Self – Stop short changing the world by being like the multitude of people in this world that is unoriginal. You were created to be your magnificent self and by not doing so, you are actually cheating the world of your existence. How will anyone respect and appreciate you if you are never being yourself.
2. They Can See Right Through You – Give other people some credit. If you are not being your original self, it is going to come across that you are being fake. And the people that you are trying so desperately to impress is more than likely sharp enough to notice a fake when they see it. You will actually lose respect and admiration in the process.
3. You Can Still Earn Respect – Being yourself has gotten you this far in your life and remaining that way is going to take you where you desire to be. If you remain steadfast to who you are, continuously add value to the lives of people around you, and live a life of service, then you will not only impress those that you want to, but also others that you might not even realize is watching you.

At the end of the day, be you; cause that is the only one you have and it is the blessing that world needs.

It has been a little while since I have done the Quote of the Week around here at FreddieTaylor.com and I feel it is time to bring it back. I was going to do a video on this, but really need to shave and don’t want to get that done right now, so I figured I would type you out a quick message.

My Reaction

When I hear this quote it just moves something deep inside of me because I know how true of a statement it is. We all have this deep desire to succeed, accomplish, and maximize the potential that lies with in us, but there is something that holds us back. That something is deep rooted in a our childhoods, relationships, friendships, phobias, misconceptions, and more. 

What am I talking about? Fear! It’s ok to admit that you are fearful of somethings. You are amongst friends here. We are all trying to get these demons out of us, on the table, deal with them, and move on. But there is something in us that holds us back from doing the things that we know are necessary to succeed and achieve all that we desire. I call this thing that holds us back, fear.

The quote says that if you must tremble while doing the thing you must, then do it! You might need to make some sales calls, but you hate to cold call people in your business. Tremble as you dial that phone number. Tremble as you ask to speak with the Procurement Manager. Tremble while you make your pitch or request for a face to face meeting, but make the call and ask for the meeting. You never know, the person on the other end of the phone might remember when they first started out in the business and was nervous as all get out to make cold calls, relate to you, and comply with your request. How would you ever know this to be the case if you didn’t try at all? That’s right, you wouldn’t.

I can promise you this. If you are able to make that call, go to that meeting, or meet head on whatever you fear as to be while trembling, you won’t tremble for long. After a while, you will get used to the feeling, the task, the deed, and complete it without fear. In fact, after you have some success doing this thing, you will gain confidence and do it with pride and honor knowing that you overcame something big to you in order to make it happen. This will become a stepping stone that you use to climb over and through your next challenges. Soon, you will have so many of them that everytime you feel that fear creeping up inside of you you will beat it down with ACTION!

Just understand that the thing that is holding you back in your profession, business, dream is you. No one else can hold you back if you don’t allow them. You cannot be a hostage to your fear if you don’t allow yourself to be. It is up to you to make it happen, so if you have to shake and tremble while doing the thing, then by all means do it. We don’t have time any more to stand around and pontificate about how things might be, could be, or should be. We only have time for action. So if you have shake and rattle, just be sure to roll and get it done.

Tremble if you must, but get it done!

Greetings Blog Family,

Children are amazing. They have this spectacular glow about and for everything they encounter. Their lives are filled with wonderment, questions, concern, passion. All of those things we wish were inside of us. But they once were.

I am no expert, but I assure you I have been a child before. If I’m not mistaken, you most likely were a child as well at one point. If not, you must still be a child. That’s cool. Singing “I don’t want to grow up i’m a Toys R Us Kid” — Don’t tell me you don’t remember that. That was/is my song there.

The Secret of Genus is to carry the spirit of the child

Children are wildly enthusiastic about life. We must do everything possible to foster that enthusiasm throughout our lives. If what you are doing is not bring you real joy, then consider doing something else. You deserve to have and do what you love.

If you are parents, allow your children to explore their lives and enjoy it. Don’t force them to do only one thing or what you think will be best for them. Children are very aware these days and may know something you don’t. Talk with them, don’t for them.

My Son the Spelling Bee Champion

Last night, Jayel won his district spelling bee for 3rd to 8th grade, which is an awesome achievement. The kicker is that he is 9 years old. (No pictures yet, terrible right?) This little guy is amazing I tell you. And yes, that is a proud, biased Father talking. But he really is something else and is a great source of my insight and enthusiasm. 

Since winning District Spelling Bee, he is now scheduled to move on to the Regional Spelling Bee, Feb. 2009. If he place high enough, he could will move on to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

That is crazy. He just turned nine years old Sept. 2008….oh, but he is in the 5th grade and takes 6th grade math. Believe it or not, we are still holding him back, they want to move him ahead, but that is too much for us to handle. 

I spoke about not forcing your children to do something because that is a parenting philosophy my wife and I have with our children. We like to allow them to explore their interest…even though we don’t understand some of it, like Pokemon. 

Perfect example is that when Jayel was younger, he was very much into chess. He loved it, competed in tournaments. Was on a chess team. Won chess tournaments like in downtown Chicago. Here is some links to his chess history:

He moved on from Chess

Jayel had an extraordinary chess experience, but he picked up other interest. As a fan, I wanted him to keep developing as a chess player. But as a parent, decided to allow him to continue exploring the world and having experiences. Now he talks about it like it was 20 years ago saying, “When I was younger, I use to compete in chess tournaments. I was pretty good.” I am thinking, “Your only nine! You are still young!” As suspected, video games, Pokemon, sports, and other things have taken his attention now. He is nine years old and is into a bunch of stuff. In February, he will test for his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Doe. He is on the football team, just picked up bowling, loves the Wii, Stratego, Cash flow  101 & 202, Scrabble is his game, and too much more.

A Love for Words, reading, and spelling

Out of this journey of chess, video games, and life has emerged Jayel’s passion for words, reading, and spelling. It is great. Imagine that, we allowed him to be himself and he strolled into another staple of life, self-education. He is enthusiastic in all of his pursuits, which is what I believe allowed him to win the spelling bee. He worked for it by studying. The list was impressive, but he really had a handle on the words.

Carrying the spirit of the child

Jayel is carrying the spirit of the child forward with him. And it is with great enthusiasm that he continues to grow and prosper. Let us learn from him and all the children around us to be excited about your ventures, about your outlook, about your opportunities and enter into them with great enthusiasm.

Who knows, you just might enjoy yourself and eventually explore and exploit  your genius.

Greetings Blog Family,

My problem isn’t with planning, action, or skill. I think it is more of an arrogant outlook that I will eventually be successful. Not sure why I think this way, but it is just true. I think if I am involved in something, then I am going to come out on top. That confidence has been with me my whole life. My wife says it is because my parents spoiled me rotten and it gave me a complex. Maybe, but I know that I am going to come out on top. Let’s just say that I am confident.

Here is the thing. I am so confident that i don’t have any real urgency or motivation to hurry the process along. For instance, I am a blogger/internet marketer/guy trying to make a living on line/you fill it in. I am going to succeed. I just know it. It is just inevitable. It is going to happen.

I am not saying that I am entitled, should be granted this or anything. I will do what ever is necessary to succeed. I will read, learn skills, practice, study, watch, analyze, plan, and stay up all hours of the night putting in my time to succeed. Despite the work requirement, I will get it done. I have that confidence in myself that I can do it.

Personally, I wish everyone had this confidence, but this outlook leads me to at times just coast and go with the flow. Taking the journey of life and just flowing along. There is no urgency to succeed right away.

I guess this is called enjoying the journey to success. They say afterall that it is the journey that is the best part. This line of thinking is probably true, but no truer than the fact that death cannot be bargined with and it tends to come unexpectedly.

Not to get to morbit on you, but this is just the truth and that one reminder that puts my arrogance in it’s place. Our time to actualize our dreams is not infinate.  In fact, we don’t know how much time we have. Today is the only day that we are promised. Let’s be sure to get it done.
