Accountability Sunday #26

Greetings Blog Family,

It’s another Sunday and I am back with my accountability report. Last week, my main goal to complete was to spend some quality time with my boys and that is exactly what we did!

It was great! My wife was out of town until Thursday of last week, so the boys and I really kicked hanging out together into overdrive and I just loved every single minute of it. At heart, I am nothing but a big kid anyway, so we really get along and play well together.

I must add a parenting note here. It is good to be friendly with your children, but I am quick to let them know that this doesn’t get in the way of my duties as a parent. If they get out of line, I will discipline without hesitation….and they know that. So, love your children, play with them, enjoy life together, but please don’t neglect the discipline. It is essential to building character in them.

Bowling Fun with My Boys!

On Monday, the boys and I went bowling and had some big time fun. They have their own bowling balls that they love to carry and utilize during the game. It makes them feel very special and they just love the fact that I don’t have one and have to use the balls at the bowling alley. It was cool. They got a little frustrated with their games cause they didn’t break 100 points, but they had fun nevertheless. And yes, I did break 100, but not going to tell my score. Let’s just say that the people on the Pro Bowlers Association are not in jeopardy of losing their spot to me. We had a great time anyway and it was a great way to kick off the week.

Reading Every Night

We read a book every night of the week and they just loved it. This is something that my wife and I use to do all the time when they were younger and couldn’t read. I think this is one of the reasons that they both read so well today. We took the time and invested in them while they were really young and instilled a love for reading, knowledge, and education in them at a very early age. So, this was a great opportunity to get back to that and I did. We ready that “Junie B First Grader” book that my five year old loves so much. It was really fun and one night I almost didn’t read with them and the disappointment in their eyes was enough to drive that self-centeredness right out of me and got me to reading with them. I am glad they hit me with the puppy dog eyes because I needed that. This will carry over to this week and beyond I am sure.

Video & Board Games

We spent a lot of time playing video and board games because that is what children love to do, go figure right? Again, I am nothing but a developed kid, so I really enjoy playing as well. My nine year old, Jayel, really puts the beat down on me and I don’t like it one bit. What he doesn’t know though is that while they are at school, sometimes I am practicing to get my game together. This is how I became the dominate Wii bowling champion in the house. I would play everyday from like 10am to 11am until I got my curve together. Now, they don’t like to play me in Wii bowling anymore, but every now and again someone in the house is feeling feisty.

Lil’ Freddie’s Black History Month Celebration at School

Lil Freddie, the five year old, had a black history month celebration at school last Friday and it was AWESOME!!!!! His class of kindergartners stole the show. And yes, I am a bias parent speaking, but it is true. They were so cute, sung with so much energy and excitement. It was outstanding. My baby is usually shy, but he really came out of his shell. He got to stand next to his best friend, Malik, and they were doing their thing.

Unfortunately, I left the video camera and my regular camera, so I don’t have anything to share. Malik’s parents taped the show and is going to give us a DVD, so I will be able to show it later. It was awesome and I am so proud of the little guy.

Black Belt Test, Part 1

My nine year old had the first part of his black belt test last Saturday. He did an awesome job. It was the endurance and written exam day. I cannot believe the amount of work they had to do to complete this section of the test. It was crazy. The testing started at 2pm and wasn’t over until like 7pm. Crazy!

I must admit that we had a blast, the parents, watching the children go through all of that. But it got really inspiring as we clapped, cheered, yelled, encouraged, and jumped to help the little ones get through the various challenges. I have a few pictures from that event to share so you can see. He did a great job, but he was so tired by the end that he just collapsed in the car and slept the entire way home. He is earning his black belt and we are proud of him! (The second part of the test is the next Sunday, so wish him luck.)

Surprise Gifts!

Jayel, the nine year old, and Freddie, five years old, both did so well that my wife, Krystal, and I decided to swing by Game Stop to reward both of them with a new Wii video game. We had to wake them up in the car on way back from the Tae Kwon Doe testing to get them to select what game they wanted. They was so surprised and happy. It was awesome, but they deserved it and did a wonderful job.

This Weeks Goal: 50 articles!

This weeks goal isn’t going to be as special as last weeks goal, but it is necessary. I must generate a residual income that is going to sustain me through the development of my niche sites, so I am back to work. I get asked a lot, “Why don’t you outsource your article writing?”

Trust me, I would love to outsource my article writing, but you actually need to be making enough money each month to do just that. Otherwise, I am pouring money out and getting nothing back. That isn’t the idea here. My plan is to get the revenue going myself, then from there I will begin to outsource like I am doing with some of my flipping efforts.

Thus, I am back to writing a large bulk of articles. My real estate site is set because I have Associate Writers pumping out content there and that is great. Currently, articles are scheduled to post a few times a week all the way through June of 2009, so that is awesome! I don’t have to worry about that site for the moment, but the writers are still creating content. By July of this year, I would like to have enough content for the rest of the year. That is a more long term goal and I think I will be able to pull it off.

I am launching a new niche site that is in an area that I am not terribly familiar with, but the opportunity is tremendous, so I have to go for it. I am a little nervous about this goal because usually when I decide to write 50 articles in a week I would have wrote about 10 on Sunday and I haven’t written any yet today. And on top of that, I am going to visit with a friend, so not likely that I will be writing later.

Nevertheless, I set the goal so I MUST rise to the occation. 50 articles or bust!

50 articles! You are a machine, Freddie. My goal for the week? Really start drawing again, try to complete at least one decent one, and get a line on a studio so I can have a place to paint without too much down time between studios.

Yeah Matty! If success for me in this business is just pumping out content, then I am all over it and will not fail. I am going to bank out about 15 today so I stay on pace.

Congrats to you on the drawing again. You have to follow your passion man, GO FOR IT….with wreckless abandon, throw caution to the wind and fly!

So did you hit your fifteen? I get so curious sometimes to see if others stay on target, I feel like a boxing trainer.

Man, thank for checking in on me, Coach! No, I did not hit my fifteen. I got 10 done and need to pick it up or I am going to be cramming on Friday and Saturday and that is just not cool. Let's see where I am by the end of the day. I would like to have about 20 done by the end of Tuesday. Be sure to check me again and please know, that I really appreciate the accountability. That is why I started this!

      Let's get it going!

In my defense on not getting it done, I had an issue come up in my appraisal business that needed immediate attention. Had to put that fire out or they were going to cut off my MLS access and an appraiser without MLS access is not in business. That wouldn't be good at all.

But at the end of the day, that is an excuse, so I am going to hit my 50 this week anyway! Let's get it done!

Looking forward to this week's progress report, and to hearing about this upcoming week's goals.

Well Matty, the post just went up, but I sure did lay an egg last week. Well, not really, but you can find out what is happening. Thanks for checking in on me and let's keep it moving. One week cannot stop our progress!!!
